Small Acts of Service Make Big Impact at Feast Day

“Nothing is small in the service of God.” This quote, by Saint Francis de Sales, was the driving force behind the goal to make this year’s Feast Day festivities more impactful than ever.  

In addition to a special Mass, complimentary treats, and a Senior Salesian Soiree, more than 300 community members honored the Feast Day of our patron saint by preparing care packages for those in need. For some students, the event was more than a celebration—it reminded them why they chose to become a Bulldog. 

“When I first came to DeSales, I noticed something different from what most campuses have. There’s a sense of family and community here, and I love being able to help everyone out.”

Volunteers like Kozman assembled 450 cookie, sandwich, and warm-weather packages. The packages were later delivered to local organizations, including Promise Neighborhoods, Bethlehem Emergency Shelter, Safe Harbor Easton, and New Bethany Ministries. 

As students worked side by side with faculty and staff members, they exchanged smiles, chatted joyfully, and reflected on the lasting impact of DeSales’ mission. 

“This event exemplifies our culture and values,” says Luke Colarusso ’26, who is studying accounting and finance. “DeSales cares about more than building our education; they build up people. I feel like I’ve become a better person since starting here.”

Elyse Discafani ’27, majoring in biology, echoed this perspective. “I most connect with the values of wisdom and humility because wisdom allows you to learn about who people are, and humility reminds you why it’s so important to do things like this for each other.”
